One of the things Whale Weirdo does is pursuing an artisic battle in order to stop the whale-hunting. For this, Whale Weirdo supports the activities of Sea Shephard, making and realising signs and material for campaigns. Below a summary.

STOP WHALE SLAUGHTER

August 2005

Project DEAD LOBSTER

July 2005

Design for Sea Shepherd. The Red Lobster chain of seafood restaurants does not kill seals but they have the power to stop the killing of hundreds of thousands of baby seals in Canada every year. All they have to do is to agree to join the international boycott of Canadian seafood products. Canadian fishermen and Canadian fishing companies support the Canadian seal slaughter. Therefore the Canadian seal slaughter cannot be seperated from the Canadian fishing industry. Red Lobster alone purchases enough seafood from Canada to negate the profits of the annual Canadian seal slaughter. Red Lobster profits from the same industry that is responsible for this bloody carnage.>>

Project HEARTBREAK

July 2005

Design for Sea Shepherd. Norway, Japan, Iceland and the Faeroe islands are still slaughtering whales and dolphins. Science, tradition and commercial greed cannot justify such a behaviour. Stop whaling.

NO ENDANGERED SPECIES ON OUR MENU

July 2005

T-shirt design for Restaurant-Bar De Zaak in Amersfoort. Endangered species should not be listed on any menu.

Project DONALD SUCKS

June 2005

The Sea Shepherd T-shirt with the artwork created by Geert-Jan Vons was an important tactic in convincing Disneyland Hong Kong to defend the sharks and not to contribute to their slaughter by serving the expensive sharkfin soup.
The artwork featuring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck cutting the fins off of sharks was reported in the International Herald Tribune, the New York Times and the London Sunday Times.
This is a great victory for the sharks because it sends a message loud and clear that shark finning is a destructive practice that is contributing to the demise of shark populations worldwide.>>

Project BABY SPERM

December 2004

Started with the making of a polyester baby spermwhale, based on the moulds which were used in the Ocean Warrior movie.
The aim of this project is to raise public awareness against the possible start of legal whaling in 2005.

Project FARLEY MOWAT

October 2004

Willemstad, Curacao. Repainted the hull of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society flagship, Farley Mowat, with life-size whales and dolphins.>>

In commemoration of ESCHRICHTIUS ROBUSTUS

SUMMER 2001

Memorial service; erecting a memorial stone and spreading mourning cards and posters in order to focus attention on the extinct Atlantic Grey Whale.

With the deepest regret we inform you of the passing away,
after a long and cruel battle with H.Sapiens, of
ESCHRICHTIUS ROBUSTUS (Atlantic Grey Whale)
Unfortunately there will be no respectful funeral.
What is left is blood in the ocean.
Please no flowers.
Donations to Sea Shepherd,

will be appreciated.
